World Heritage Site

more than a year ago
Since 1997 the port town of Willemstad has been on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. Only five other Caribbean locations are members of this 'elite' club. Roughly 700 buildings in the districts of Punda, Otrabanda, Pietermaai and Scharloo are considered to be 'unique and interesting examples of European colonialism'. All of them are now protected monuments.
