Top 5 Souvenirs from Oslo

more than a year ago
You can always buy a fridge magnet and that's ok. But there are certain things that you can buy only in Oslo and nowhere else ever. For example, those might be:

Norwegian Knitwear

By now you've most probably heard of Norwegian sweaters at least seven hundred times. The traditional Norwegian knitwear includes snowflake forms and sharp geometrical patterns in natural colors, mostly black, white, red and blue.

Lucky Trolls

Lucky Gnomes and Trolls are sold in almost every souvenir shop in Oslo since they are a significant part of the Scandinavian folklore. Lucky trolls can be found as garden figures in many corners of the world, but rarely can someone explain where they come from and what they mean.

Norwegian Folk Music CD

This kind of CDs can also be found in some souvenir shops, as well as the music shops around the city. They include vocal and instrumental pieces of Norwegian folk music - medieval ballads, dancing songs, and old songs with a modern accompaniment.

Food

It might sound funny, but we promise it's not. Norwegian brown cheese, Norwegian smoked salmon, Norwegian brown bear and reindeer meat or just a piece of Freia chocolate are good enough to be taken back home. Also, better take some for your friends too.

Viking jewelry and accessories

From a stylish Viking-inspired brooch to a massive Viking drinking horn - Viking-related souvenirs are literally found all around the city. You can't go wrong with one of those since that's a massive part of Oslo's cultural and historical background.
