Chapel of the Wounded Jesus

Built in 1757 as a votive chapel by local noblewoman Rozalija Plepelić, this little chapel stands curiously isolated in the middle of a field within sight of the control tower of Zagreb Airport. A neat little structure in dark wood with a terracotta roof, the most striking part is the intricately carved porchway topped off with a little belltower. The chapel has brick foundations and a stone-flagged floor; inside there’s a carved wooden Way of the Cross and the interior is decorated with colourful paintings. Mass is heard here on Sunday mornings.
