Although this restaurant officially opened in April 2014, Monte Verdi's owners previously ran a certain 'Restauracja Monte' since 1997 and the operation has undergone several transformations since then. Although they call themselves a Pizzeria Restaurant, and indeed pizza is a good third of the menu, other areas of Italian cuisine are well-and-truly covered. We took a chance at the rich and flavoursome Casarecce Con Salsiccia (a Sicilian pasta variety with Gorgonzola, Italian sausage and bacon) and the restaurant's very own Monte Verdi Pizza (eggplant, cherry tomato, Italian sausage and rocket) with a crispy, thin crust and not overly-saturated in fat. These main portions were just the right siz, leaving room for a Tiramisu with Amaretto and Semi-Freddo with Strawberries. The place looks rather expensive from the outside and the décor is purposefully-reminiscent of that Southern Italian sandstone look (the owners are apparently from Napoli). However, on the contrary, the menu is very reasonably-priced! If you have a date to impress, bring them here and then head next door to Café Klaps for a coffee.
