While not making a comeback here (we’re pretty sure that they weren’t very hygienic) a new place on Gdynia’s main street seems destined to become a regular haunt. Conceived by the Peruvian owners of Sopot’s La Marea, this is roast chicken Peruvian style. They’ve imported a special wooden-burning oven all the way from Peru with a rotisserie to roast their specially prepared Peruvian style chickens, which come coated in their traditional mix of herbs and spices (also all imported from Peru). The result is delicious and we love it particularly when ordered with their chunky fries and a salad. The menu is simple – order a whole, half or quarter chicken and chips and wash it down with homemade lemonade. There’s also a Creole-style pork neck, but it’s the chicken that’ll keep us coming back as well as the friendly Polish lady who works there. She’s clearly lived in the US – the service is refreshingly friendly and efficient. A word of warning though. It’s not very large so tables (one of which was wobbly beyond description on our visit) are limited. With prices at 29zl for a whole chicken and fries, you can expect the tables to be kept busy even in price-sensitive Gdynia.
