From July 4 to September 15, the island of Hvar hosts the fourth Jelsa Art Biennial, themed Concrete Tenderness — a striking reflection on the growing urbanization of Croatia’s coast. A highlight of this year’s edition is Making the Invisible Visible, a multimedia exhibition inspired by marine biologist Dr. Zrinka Ljubešić’s research. It explores the hidden underwater world and calls for the protection of fragile ecosystems like those around Lastovo Island. Through immersive installations by artists Ivan Marušić Klif and Francisca Rocha Goncalves, science meets art to raise awareness of the need for marine conservation. Presented with support from WWF and local communities, the Biennial blends creativity and activism in a unique Adriatic setting. Jelsa.
