The little islet of Šćedro is only accessible by small boat or helicopter, but that hasn’t stopped it being beloved by yachters. Many boats head here during the summer months, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquility of the islet, the crystal-clear sea, and the fresh fish in the restaurants. Šćedro sits in the Korčula Channel just off the southern coast of Hvar, around 12km from Jelsa and 2.7km from Zavala. The islet itself measures 6.5km in length and 2.5km in width and has a total land mass of 8.36km. There are three tiny islets 3km west of Šćedro, although these are sometimes below water. Listed as a protected landscape since 1968, Šćedro is beloved for its gorgeous coastline and stunning plant cover. It has two sparsely-occupied villages (Mostir and Nastane). To get to Šćedro, taxi boats ferry back and forth from Zavala in the summer.
