If you are ready to fall in love with beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, sunbathed vineyards, and a perfect climate, Zavala is the place for you. It is a place to escape stress, rest the body, and reset yourself. It is delightfully quiet (almost silent) and extremely safe, with plenty of options for walking, cycling, and bathing. Zavala is also known simply as Plaža, which is apt, as it is the place with the largest number of beaches on the island. It is located 7km from Jelsa or a 15-minute drive through a tunnel that is more like a cave, a road of darkness that ends with incredible panoramic views. There are excellent family pensions here, and the lush vegetation of Šćedro Islet sits just opposite Zavala. To head to Šćedro, excursions leave Zavala daily at 10 and 11 in the morning, returning from the island at 5 and 6 in the evening.
