Kennedy Tembo is the Ambassador of adventure in Joburg. He founded Microadventure Tours in 2017 to connect Joburgers with experiences outside of their comfort zone that are right in their backyard. A fitness fanatic himself (he has run Comrades and Ironman and pioneered the race to the top of Africa's tallest residential building, The Ponte Challenge), Kennedy's tours include cycle rides through Joburg and around the scenic Cradle of Humankind as well as trips to tackle adventurous hiking routes in the Drakensberg mountains.

Among his most entertaining Joburg tours is the Jozi Coffee Cycle Tour, a coffee-themed bike ride through downtown Joburg. The four- to five-hour tour makes five stops for coffee at the inner city's best coffee shops and interesting heritage buildings while tracing a circular route from Maboneng in the east to Newtown in the west (read our review of the Jozi Coffee Cycle Tour here). More experienced cyclists will love Kennedy's 16km tours of the Cradle of Humankind which include a visit to the Maropeng visitor's centre and Sterkfontein Caves and a stop at Kromdraai, one of Gauteng's very first mines. All cycle tours include mountain bikes and helmets.

Microadventure Tours also offers a high tea experience at one of Joburg's landmark Victorian mansions, beautifully restored and not usually open to the public, a nightlife experience of Joburg that involves dressing up to enjoy some of the city's best kept secret restaurants and bars, and a tour of the landmark Johannesburg Public Library among others.
