Donny McCaslin
At this year's Ars Cameralis Festival, attendees will have the same opportunity David Bowie had when he saw saxophonist Donny McCaslin and his jazz band perform live and was so impressed he subsequently conscripted them to contribute to his final album, Blackstar, released mere days before Bowie's death in 2016. McCaslin and his bandmates played a huge role in shaping that acclaimed album's sound, vision and stylistic fusion, and came to the sudden attention of the music world as a result. But it should be noted that McCaslin's career goes back decades, with 13 albums as a bandleader to date, the most recent of which was 2018's Blow. Brought up in and around music, McCaslin played in his father's jazz ensemble at the age of only 12, was performing at Monterey Jazz Festival while still in high school, and won a scholarship to prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. With such a resume and industry accolades, the opportunity to catch this group in a small venue like Hipnoza for only 30zł shouldn't be missed.

Support:
Opening is RASP Lovers, a five-piece Polish jazz band lead by guitarist and composer Szymon Wójcik, who mix elements of punk, avant-garde jazz, electronics, improvised music and alternative rock to create their own unique sound.
