Jenny Hval
Norwegian artist Jenny Hval is an avant-garde tour de force, creating art as a composer, singer, journalist, author and poet. With numerous collaborations and 8 albums to her own name, Jenny's style is innovative, abstract, experimental and very hard to categorise, with tones of goth, pop and folk. Her latest album The Practice of Love was released in September and designated 'Best New Music' by music journalism heavies Pitchfork, who summed it up thusly: "The Norwegian artist brings her heady, personal text into the world of dance music to create an affecting, transcendental album that lives on the boundary of pop and the avant-garde." Together with a team of musicians, video artists and dancers, her Katowice show will combine music, literature and movement to reveal its theme of the relationship between life and art.

Also a novelist, Jenny's first book was translated into English last year, under the title Paradise Rot. A day earlier, at 17:00 on Friday in Miejscownik - Tygiel Kulturalny bookstore, Jenny will present fragments from the book in a free literary event.
