The permanent exhibition Prelepa Gorenjska is designed as a walk through time in twelve episodes on the first floor and on the porch. The exhibition tells the story of Gorenjska and its people through numerous photographs and documentary and feature films. The oldest traces of the human being in the Gorenjska region only reach tens of thousands of years in the past. Prehistoric settlements and cemeteries of former inhabitants were discovered in many places in Gorenjska. With the arrival of the Slavs who mixed with the indigenous people, the Slavic language prevailed. The treasures of ancient knowledge and customs have merged, and the old names of rivers and mountains have survived. Above all, the art of iron works has been preserved, which has been known in Gorenjska for 3000 years.
