Situated in the heart of Belgrade on the walking street and right next to the French cultural center, you’ll find the new French restaurant “Le Moliere”. Easy to access and yet discreet; the décor is far from gaudy and once you notice it, the motto on the window appears tempting and inviting: (buvons mes amis, buvons, le temps qui passe nous y convie” (drink my friends, drink, the time that passes invites us to it). The inside decoration is a typical French “bistrot”, with dimmed lights, small tables for two which can be pushed together for groups and a room in the basement for larger groups. “Le Moliere” has a romantic atmosphere and is a perfect place for discussion and business meals. The room wasn’t crowded for a Monday evening and with a server and a barman on duty, the service was well-assured. For the French side, a professional selection offered popular French songs; with just enough volume to follow the music if wished but low enough not to inhibit discussions. The restaurant offers a few of the favorites from French cuisine such as the French onion soup, “gratinee d’oignon” and veal kidneys which strangely tasted a bit sweet. The onion soup was brilliant for a French restaurant based in a foreign country and the “crème brulee” was agreeably made, with soft cream and a brittle caramel top. The bread was decent, but not as exquisite as real French bread. After all, the note was reasonably priced with a suitable service. The French restaurant “Le Moliere” is definitely worth a visit.
