Located inside a green wooden house at the top of a steep lane, this small and informative memorial to the Holocaust in Lithuania is a necessary stop on any visit to the city. Lacking the sophistication of a modern museum in favour of a low budget approach to design, the items on display do a brilliant job at conveying the tragedy in stark detail. Upstairs is a recreation of a malina, a hiding space used by Jews throughout Lithuania between 1941 and 1944. Ring the doorbell and somebody'll let you in.
