Spring in the Dubrovnik region is the perfect time to discover authentic local traditions, seasonal flavours, and vibrant community life beyond the historic city centre. One of the highlights of April is Župski pjat, a multi-day festival that brings together gastronomy, heritage, and community experiences in Župa Dubrovačka.

Held over eight days, from April 20 to 27, the festival offers a diverse and immersive programme that combines food, education, and local culture. It opens with interactive workshops for children, folklore presentations, and expert-led lectures, before continuing throughout the week with a variety of themed events — from educational LEGO workshops and presentations on local history and film heritage to talks focused on Mediterranean culture and traditions.
Midweek programmes highlight sustainability and traditional knowledge, with workshops dedicated to Mediterranean gardening, nutrition, and the cultivation of local crops, as well as presentations on microgreens and traditional food practices. Visitors can also enjoy unique experiences such as visiting an award-winning olive oil producer, taking part in hands-on culinary workshops like gluten-free lemon pasta making at OPG Jović, or exploring the area through guided cultural and nature-based activities.
The weekend brings family-friendly and outdoor programmes, including educational art workshops inspired by local fauna and a guided historical walk through Postranje. The festival concludes with community-focused activities such as a medicinal garden workshop and a puppet theatre performance, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
Taking place across a variety of authentic locations — from schools and cultural centres to farms, gardens, and historic sites — Župski pjat offers a genuine insight into everyday life, traditions, and flavours of the Dubrovnik countryside, making it a perfect addition to any spring visit to the region. The full programme is available on the official festival website.
