Chisinau

Must-Visit Attractions

more than a year ago
The capital of Moldova is a place full of interesting sights and green spaces that everyone should see while visiting the city. With amazing parks and places full of history and beauty, your trip to Chisinau will surely be unforgettable. If you don’t know where to go first, we recommend visiting these must see attractions first.

Dendrarium Park
One of the best parks in Chisinau, Dendrarium Park is a popular spot for hanging out. Either you admire the beautiful rose gardens, stop to eat some ice cream or watch the birds around the lake, this is a great place to enjoy nature in the heart of the city. Keep in mind that the park has a small entrance fee and dogs and bicycles are not allowed.

Valea Morilor
A relaxing stroll around the big lake in the middle of this park is everything you could wish for in a sunny day. You can also jog, visit the amusement park, rent a boat or ride your bike here. There’s even a small beach on one corner of the lake and a beautiful waterfall staircase that lights up at night, which makes this a great place for night walks too.

Stefan cel Mare Park
This lovely spot located in the heart of Chisinau is a favourite amongst locals. This well-maintained park is full of trees and benches, so it’s perfect for walks on a hot sunny day. The special feature of the park is the Alley of Classics, an alley decorated with busts of classic literary figures and political leaders from Moldova. The huge water fountain inside the park is also a great place to sit by and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Catedrala Nasterea Domnului (The Birth of Jesus/ Lord Cathedral)
Located in the central square of Chisinau, this cathedral is a slice of the city's religious heritage and history. Although modest on the outside, the inside will reveal you beautiful intricate and colourful ornaments, traditional icons and a great wall in shining gold. Even though most of its interior and exterior looks good now, this 19th century religious landmark has had its share of bad luck, suffering extensive damage during the war and being used as a convention centre in the Soviet era. It's free to enter, but as it’s Orthodox custom, men shouldn't wear shorts and women should wear a head scarf and modest clothing.

Victory Memorial and Eternal Flame /Eternity Memorial Complex
Impressive in scale and meaning, the Memorial is an ode and reflection on the turbulent years of war this country has endured. It was built to honour the USSR victory over the Nazi foes and reclaiming their territories. A solemn reminder of the folly of war, the memorial has a pyramid of five stylized iron rifles in its centre and an eternal flame burning at the base.
