Set in a 19th-century granary tucked inside the bend of the Brda on Mill Island, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque eatery than Karczma Młyńska (English: The Mill Inn). There’s a real Wind in the Willows quality here, especially so in summer when diners have the choice of sitting on a wooden terrace that hangs over the water. And it’s well worth a visit even if the weather gods aren’t smiling; the menu is strong by Bydgoszcz standards, with ample portions of meat served up by cheerful waiters. Tuck into hearty bigos or pork knuckle stewed in beer while admiring an attractive interior comprised of animal horns and farmstead surplus.
