The city stadium in Chorzów is the home of local team Ruch Chorzów, currently playing in Ligue 1. The stadium was originally built in 1934-35 It has a capacity of 9,300. Plans were afoot prior to the modernisation of Stadion Śląski, which Ruch were to move into following completion, however, due to the high cost of rent, it has been decided Ruch will stay in their current home. Modernisation of the stadium will begin in 2018 and last for 4 years. The new capacity of the stadium is planned to be 16,000.
