It may have been unveiled in the 1950s, but Vračar’s Tašmajdan Park only received its current aesthetic following a major upgrade in 2010. What an upgrade it was, a peaceful place of recreation that is light years away from hosting Karadjordje’s band of rebels or the bombs of NATO in 1999. A children’s theatre was among the buildings destroyed in the latter, and a monument to the young lives lost stands in the centre of the park.
