Museum of Road Engineering

  ul. 1 Maja 39, Szczucin      14 643 52 78     more than a year ago
File this obscure museum about 40km north of Tarnów among PL's most niche museums. Under the authority of the GDDKiA (the General Directorate of National Roads & Motorways - a government organization celebrating 200 years in 2019), this museum consists of an open-air exhibit of hulking historical road-building vehicles and machines, and an indoor exhibit - including old documents, engineering designs, uniforms, tools, memorabilia and more - connected by a historic 'Bailey Bridge.' If you're curious what steamrollers looked like when they were actually steam powered, or pulled by horses for that matter - get thee to Szczucin. To do so you'll need a car, good GPS and about 45mins for the journey from Tarnów.
