Špančeva Zidanica, built in 1818, is one of Slovenia’s oldest and best-preserved vineyard cottages. Surrounded by centuries-old vines above Šmartno ob Paki, it invites visitors on a journey into traditional winemaking. At its heart stands a remarkable oak wine press from 1791, still used today. Winemaker Anže Podgoršek continues the family tradition, combining heritage with modern ideas. He shares family stories, demonstrates traditional techniques and offers tastings of unique wine from the authentic Ranfol grape, accompanied by local snacks.
