The only museum of its kind in the Baltics, the fabulous Lithuanian Sea Museum collects, preserves and promotes marine life of all kinds including the ships that sail on the surface of the sea and that play such an important part in the culture of the city. Among the almost 100,000 creatures and exhibits to be found here are large tanks of tropical and other fish, outdoor pools for penguins and the like and a dolphinarium that as well as providing entertainment in the form of live shows also provides therapy for sick children. Highly recommended for all, be sure to stop and visit the display of stranded ships on the road that leads to the main complex.
