Mogoro’s strategic position, overlooking the fertile Campidanian plain, was clear to early Sardinians, as suggested by the presence of thirty-odd nuragic settlements within the municipality. Mogoro is also famous for its carpets and tapestries which are celebrated from 24 Jul to 30 Aug in the Sardinian Craftsmanship and Carpet Weaving Fair (Fiera dell'Artigianato Artistico e del Tappeto della Sardegna).
