On July 21, Art Workshop Lazareti opened the exhibition “Atlantis – Small Worlds”, a guest project by the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin. The exhibition tells powerful stories of villages and settlements across Central Europe that have disappeared or are at risk of vanishing due to war, shifting borders, economic collapse, forced migration, and natural disasters.
Part of an international research project, the exhibition features 24 lost or endangered places from Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia. Through objects, photos, and personal stories, it preserves memories of rural life while raising awareness about the fragility of these communities.
Croatian examples include Velo Grablje and Malo Grablje (Hvar), Korita (Mljet), Draž (Baranja), and Završje – Piemonte (Istria)—places threatened by depopulation but not without hope. The exhibition also looks ahead, exploring how digital work, sustainability, and new economic models might help revive rural life.

Curated in Dubrovnik by Ivica Kipre, the exhibition runs until August 12 and is open Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.
