The YMCA building is an essential stop on anyone keen on modernist architectural sightseeing in Gdynia. Constructed between 1948 and 1951, the design was led by Warsaw architects Stefan Koziński and Bohdan Damięcki. Much of the funding came from the International YMCA, as well as investments from other American and Canadian organisations. The building features a modern brick facade and round porthole windows on its main entry. Amongst locals, it is best known for its raised walkway above ul. Żeromskiego lined with glass-brick and the phrase ZAŻÓŁĆ GĘŚLĄ JAŹŃ (ENG: Yellow your gussy self), a phrase that features all the diacritic letters of the Polish alphabet.
