These esplanade parklands are a great no-cost day out, and one that’s especially enjoyable for families with active young kids, as there’s a large playground with much more than the usual swings and slides, and plenty of space for casual games of cricket, football, frisbee or tag. When it’s time to settle down there are barbecue areas, picnic shelters, and the all-important bathrooms. There are also fish and chip shops, as well as other eateries, if you don’t feel like bringing your own supplies. If you'd like to stretch your legs and get more of that fresh air in your lungs, then we recommend following one of the walkways through the park, or maybe paddling in the water along the small but sandy beach. Finally, an outdoor arts and crafts market is held in the morning on the fourth Sunday of every month, so you may even be able to pick up a unique souvenir of your visit.
