It is a sweltering 30 degrees in June as we type this, so you better believe we’re going to be recommending some ice cream joints. Ice cream and summer go together like magnet and steel, although this is in spite of the constant fight to stop the stuff melting all over your paws. You’re never more than 10 metres from an Aida in Košice. Okay, that isn’t entirely true, and even if it was we wouldn’t be too unhappy with the states of affairs. Aida is Košice’s confectionary king, a den of delectable desserts that somehow manages to offer colourful sweets in a strangely old fashioned environment.
If you’ve got a prime piece of real estate opposite the largest church in Slovakia, what other moniker are you going to go for? The name doesn’t matter though, not with sweets this good. Pancake lovers, you are in for a treat (figurative and literal).
A good old-fashioned ice cream shop, you know where you stand with Urban Cafe. There are plenty of pies, cakes and other types of sweet, making this the perfect place to visit if you’re battling the insistent heckling of your sweet tooth.
Nope, we’re not buying that — there’s nothing guilty about donuts, especially when they are this darn good. These are donuts for people who take donuts seriously, which quite frankly should be everyone. Sure, they are borderline sickly, but there should be an all or nothing theme when donuts are on the menu. These are bright, bombastic, boisterous donuts, and boy do we love them.
