Riga’s nightlife scene has had its ups and downs over the years, but, thankfully, neighbourhood pubs are still thriving and many clubs are once again open until the last paying customer leaves. Sadly, many bars still close their doors before midnight on weeknights, but a number of hipster bars keep late hours to cater to clientele for whom every day is Friday. Some strip clubs and late-night bars, however, are still out to scam tourists, so take those beer goggles off and be vigilant. Although Old Riga offers many fine establishments, it also has its fair share of overpriced tourist traps, so we always recommend that you stray beyond the confines of the old town to discover some of Riga's best bars. Whatever you do, don't miss the Briāna iela nightlife district, which is home to brew pubs, hip hop clubs and one of the best rock bars we've ever seen.
