Nightwatchman Walk

  Rathausquai      (+41) 79 306 82 87     more than a year ago
When darkness begins to fall in the city you can travel back in time to medieval Lucerne on this English-language Nightwatchman tour. The walk begins with a fire horn call and nightwatchman Ralph, who dresses the part, then sets the scene. Along the tour he describes the torture chamber, the dungeon and the secret room inside the famous water tower, which was built before the adjoining Chapel Bridge. You'll be introduced to medieval law and order, prosecution and interrogation methods, corporal punishment and the death penalties of the time. Best of all, you can track the route on a 400-year-old copper engraved map of the city.
