If you're vegan and you plan on sampling meat-heavy realm of Polish cuisine, House of Seitan should be your first port of call in Gdańsk. Wrzeszcz's Wajdeloty is well-known for its vege/vegan eating options so it makes sense that HOS should join the competition. The devout will immediately recognise the faux-meat product, Seitan, in the restaurant's name, which features in a number of their dishes, like Kotlet Schabowy ([fake] Pork Schnitzel) with Buraczki (Pickled-Beetroot), Carrot and Cauliflour is a dish perfect for vegans with an appetite. We also love their recreation of Polish Kluski (Mushy-Potato Dumplings) with a sprinkling of fried onions, a dish which is not only delectable but equally-satisfying. They currently serve warm Kompot (fruit-stew drink) which is perfect on colder days. Outside of Polish cuisine, we noted that they have Vietnamese Phô Noodle Soup, so it wouldn't fair to pidgeon-hole these guys. Indeed, House of Seitan get extra points for inclusiveness, flying a rainbow flag in the face of Polish ultra-conservatism as well as providing female sanitary items in their whacky, disco-lit bathroom!
Note: They don't take card, so bring cash!!
