Pol'and'Rock Festival

Pol'and'Rock Festival is an outdoor rock music festival held annually at the Broczyno Airfield in Czaplinek, about 150km east of Szczecin. Created by WOŚP founder Jerzy Owsiak as a thank-you to the thousands of volunteers supporting his charity, the festival was inspired by Woodstock '69 (in fact it was originally called Przystanek Woodstock) and has been dubbed 'The Most Beautiful Festival in the World.'

That's perhaps due to the humanitarian, open, tolerant vibe of the multi-generational crowd, which reach annual attendance numbers around 750,000, making Pol'and'Rock the largest open-air festival in Europe. What's most amazing, however, is that the festival is completely free and open to all, including thousands of campers. The music takes place on 5 stages and the line-ups are rockcentric, but include a huge diversity of genres, including metal, folk, experimental, reggae, electronic, and even classical. In addition to popular Polish bands, the festival brings in international acts, which in past years have included The Prodigy, Judas Priest, Ziggy Marley, Dropkick Murphys, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Gojira, Goo Goo Dolls and others. The festival is also an occasion to promote an emerging talent - the winners of a competition held prior to the festival are given a chance to perform during the main event. In addition to the concerts, there are other events organised during the festival, such as meetings with well-known politicians, artists, journalists, actors and other celebrities. The festival also promotes such organisations as Greenpeace, Polish Humanitarian Action, animal rights activists and many other humanitarian initiatives.
