Military turmoil leading up to World War II saw the construction of fortifications, bunkers and tunnels in Rijeka. Now, the first military tunnel has opened for visitors with the entrance next to the Cathedral of St. Vitus and it stretches below the Old Town to the Dolac Primary School. The 330-m long tunnel still has some original markings and was even used in the Homeland War as a shelter.
