Top Spring events in Vilnius

more than a year ago
Lithuanians are simple folk with good hearts who enjoy observing their traditions. After a long winter slumber, locals are anxious to get back into the groove again, so to speak, and the following upcoming spring events are a reflection of that spirit.

Fair of Kaziukas (St. Casimir). March 6 - 8.
Expect to feast on traditional dishes including a wide variety of breads, meats, dairy products, herbs and sweets. Many traders and artisans gather at this event to sell their wares from local art to traditional handicrafts. This is the place to pick up that wooden spoon or spatula you’ve been dying to buy.

Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania. March 11
The Act of Re-establishment of the State of Lithuania was signed on March 11, 1990.
This day is important to all Lithuanians and the courage of the people who fought for independence is celebrated on this day and gratitude is shown. There will also be a parade and cheerful musical performances dedicated to the nation and its people.

Kino pavasaris (International Films Festival) March 19 – April 2
Although spring can be a good time for a walk, it can still get quite chilly, so why not enjoy a few good films in a cosy theatre? The so-called Cinema Spring programme is divided into five parts, so it's easy to pick the films that might pique your interest. Meetings with filmmakers, seminars and, of course, interesting films are all part of the festival.

Open House Vilnius April 25 - 26
Roughly 70 unique and exclusive buildings, that are usually inaccessible to the public, open their doors to all and sundry. Drop by your favourite buildings and learn about these architectural marvels from experts who will tell fascinating stories about each of these edifices.

Design Week Lithuania May 6 - 12.
The Lithuanian design community from around the country will gather together in Vilnius to present its latest creative projects and endeavours to anyone who is interested in the latest design trends.

Street Music Day May 16
The sounds of music will echo far and wide in and around Vilnius’ Old Town. Come and see local talents drumming, strumming, singing and otherwise performing to their heart’s delight. No matter what your musical taste, you’ll find something appealing here. Both new and traditional music will rouse you from your winter slumber and prepare you for the upcoming summer!

Museum Night May 16
Part of the Europe-wide network of similar events, this genuinely beautiful cultural experiment sees many of the city’s museums open to the public for free late into the evening for a series of eye-opening tours, lectures, presentations and other treats.
