Beata Stankiewicz-Szczerbik creates unique glass artworks: sculptures, stained glass, tiles, bowls and figurines. The artist also designs and implements glass in architecture, including 12 stained glass windows in the Gothic Church of St. Maciej in Wrocław and the glass painting entitled Dandelions in the executive lounge at the Wrocław's airport terminal. She works within many glass making techniques: kiln casting, pâte de verre, fusing, stained glass, painting on glass (contour, patina and enamel). The artist redefines glass by boldly including it in performance-like narratives, installations or video works. As a result of these operations, glass loses its physicality and becomes an indefinable, unsettling phenomenon. The artist uses glass to create elaborate self-portraits, talk about motherhood, identity, femininity and evanescence.
