Ignacy Czwartos. Polish Painter

Feb 22 - Apr 29 2019       Pl. Strzegomski 2
share
Ignacy Czwartos is a contemporary artist who makes conscious references to the tradition of European modernism, especially to the spiritual precursors of abstract art – Kazimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian. His paintings are characterised by an original combination of figuration and abstraction. His works are full of inventiveness, unconventional, often surprising and perversely witty. Strongly embedded in the canons of Polish painting, his works are often a personal statement on controversial topics, thereby introducing it into the critical discourse of contemporary art. The artist is particularly interested in a particular aspect of "Polishness" and is willing to express it in his art.
