Jurand Jarecki, a Polish modernist architect, inspired by a French architect Le Corbusier, aimed in his designs to break the classical approach to architecture. His were the first superstores (Zenit, Skarbek-1958) built in Katowice (Upper Silesia) as well as multiple apartment complexes. He is solely responsible for Katowice urban architectural plan. A passionate ski jumper, Jarecki also designed a few ski jumps in Poland ( Zakopane, Szczyrk, Wisła, Bielsko-Biała and Karpacz). The current exhibition presents the wide selection of his architectural drawings. The visitors will also have an opportunity to meet with the architect on April 4th at 18.00 and watch the film Architect's Portrait, especially created for this occasion. The exhibition is part of the series organised by the Silesian Library.
