Hotel Polonia Palace

  Al. Jerozolimskie 45 ,   City Centre          (+48) 22 318 28 00     24 Oct 2025
Originally built in 1913 the Polonia Palace has seen it all, from a victory banquet hosted by Eisenhower to the Miss World girls back in 2006. The history dates back to the end of the partitions and Russian rule in the early 20th century, and, as the hotel owners say: "Polonia Palace Hotel... served as a reminder that Poland existed despite the lack of statehood."

Now, the space has been redone and the exterior has benefited from a full facelift. In the modern day, it dazzles amid its soot-clad neighbours. Sliding doors open onto a grand marble lobby, while upstairs amply portioned rooms reveal modern fittings among ‘made-to-look-old’ furniture. The have 32" and 40" LED TVs and hotel-wide Wi-Fi extend the modern upgrades.

In the communal sections, you'll find a lobby bar that serves up delicious Polish and international cuisine along with a view into the center of Warsaw; also find a fitness center and 10 event rooms (including an impressive ballroom). Plus, there are 206 elegant private rooms that make your stay truly special. Enjoy a piece of Polish history right in the center of the city.

Well-located for public transport, this hotel is situated just down the road from Warsaw's Central Station and directly opposite the city's Centrum Metro. There is also a tram stop right outside the front door and a bus stop through the underpass to the right, from where you can get frequent buses to the Old Town. This bus stop is also where the airport bus, number 175, drops you off [journey time 20 minutes, cost 4.40 zloty]. Spick and span for its 100th anniversary celebrations the hotel is grand without being stuffy. My room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. When I needed something from housekeeping it was delivered to my 4th floor room with a smile in less than 5 minutes. The extensive buffet breakfast was delicious and you can wash it down with a glass of sparkling wine or a shot of vodka [I, rather greedily, had both]. The real star of the hotel though is its bar "Bojangles" and the staff who work there. The Manageress and her team, Piotr and Pawel, deserve a special mention. Polite, friendly and efficient they are a real credit to the hotel and I had an enjoyable evening there on Sunday when I was, as usual, the last person to leave the bar. “Dziękuję” for a great night guys. Room Tip: Book via the hotel's website if you want free Wi-Fi in your room See more room tips

Top notch hotel, although a little more up-market than we would normally go. Get the breakfast buffet, it's pretty incredible... but it gets crowded so try to go early. We were facing the courtyard so there was no street noise, and on an upper floor so there was no banquet hall noise. Drawbacks: 1) Location - unless you're stepping into a taxi, the streets right outside can be a little bit intimidating. The roundabout is so big you have to go underground into the metro station just to cross the street. We're used to big metro stations, but not everyone is... so I thought I might mention it. 2) No free internet - I have little use for most services, but I guess I've gotten used to free internet in the room or public area. Since I don't use it much (just to check few things before and after a full day of exploring the city) it seemed like a hassle to debate the terms of the pay service. I would have much preferred having this service instead of a fitness room or room service.

Check for good weekend and winter specials. I've stayed here on several occasions for $70-$80 a night which is a wonderful deal. In addition to this the hotel is very centrally located yet a convenient distance from the airport. Excellent breakfast buffet and the ground-floor restaurant is generally good but the bill adds up quickly there. Full of businessmen in suits and ties on a weeknight if that's your preferred company. (I stayed here in December 1979 for the equivalent of $6.67 per night. How things have changed.)

The Hotel in top notch in many respects. The breakfast buffet with champagne was great. The location likewise can't be beat. But the most important is getting a good night's sleep. The Hotel also provides a hall for weddings. We were located on the second floor and we enjoed the music you could clearly hear it. But after 1 AM it became annoying where we could not go to sleep. Finally with several complants they moved us to the 6th floor. This was 2 45 AM. Make sure when you book to ask if they have any weddings planned. You'll be sorry otherwise.
