Silesia is known for its industrial tourism - and it even has its own festival for you to experience the best of 36 unique facilities located in almost 30 towns across the Silesian region, allowing visitors an unprecedented glimpse into the industrial history of the region and how it has shaped the daily way of life for so many locals in industries ranging from coal and steel to printing and brewing. The only event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, during the annual Industriada Festival (now in its 15th edition in 2024), these sites are not only open to the public, but special workshops, tours, performances, family programmes and more are organised. Spend the day exploring unique sites like the Guido Coal Mine in Zabrze, the Silesian Museum on the grounds of the former Katowice Coal Mine, the art gallery in Nikiszowiec's Wilson Shaft, Katowice's Porcelain Factory, Zinc Rolling Mill and more. Check the Industriada website for complete details of all the special events happening at each participating location.
