Katowice National Radio Symphony Orchestra led by Rossen Gergov will perform Josef Suk's Fantastic Scherzo, Op.25,  Mikhail Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmila Overture and Mathew Rosenblum's Lament / Witches' Sabbath written for the extraordinary clarinet soloist David Krakauer, who is going to join the orchestra on stage. This is Mathew Rosenblum’s very personal piece, inspired by his grandmother's story of fleeing the 1919 massacre in Proskurov, Ukraine, with six children and pregnant with his mother. Lament/Witches’ Sabbath incorporates Ukrainian and Jewish lament field recordings, his grandmother’s recorded voice, klezmer-tinged clarinet with orchestra, and elements from the last movement of Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique, Witches’ Sabbath. The concert will take place on the 17th of November, at 12pm.
