Klaipėda

History Museum of Lithuania Minor

  Didžioji Vandens 2      (+370) 46 41 05 27     more than a year ago
An essential part of any visit to the city for those wishing to unlock its unique multicultural past, find two floors of exhibits inside a huge building displaying everything from prehistoric artefacts to sinister photographs of Klaipėda/Memel awash with swastikas soon after Hitler’s March 1939 occupation. A magnificent effort for an institution clearly struggling to find proper funding, give the place at least an hour if you can. Free audio guides are available in English, German, Lithuanian and Russian.
