Republican exhibitions of small plastic art in Klaipėda has been organized since 2005. Their goal was to present the tendencies of sculptural form and small plastic art from classics to experiment and to join together artists of different generations into a common space. During the fourteen years of this tradition, LDS Klaipėda division has matured the idea of going beyond the format of the small plastic art and expanding - the Art Festival „Fact – Form“ and its exhibition “Section” open up a wider field of visual experiences in KCCC Exhibition Hall and give hope to transform Klaipėda into some sort of art form's Mecca not only in Lithuanian but also in the world's context.
Exhibition "Section" is attended by section members of the LDS divisions of sculptors with art works of sculptural form, object and installation. The word "section" (in Latin sectio - cut, division) is not only a subsection or subdivision of an institution or organization, a particular group of people, but also a piece of furniture, in which in the recent past it was usual to "exhibit" your entire life or what we have the best. Nowadays we live in a time of freedom, so the culture of memory and giving a sence to it through the art work is as viable as ever, thus the concept of the exhibition appeals to the visual solution of the exposition field, presenting the actual result and the actual existence of form to the viewer.
„Section“ is an introductory exhibition of the International Form Art Festival “Fact-Form“. The fact never moves away from the form, and also reinforces the fact of form's appearance. This exhibition phrases a dilemma: first fact, then form, or first form and then fact? Sometimes the artist's thoughts „actualizes“ the meaning of the creation's appearance that is presented to the viewer in descriptions, and sometimes it is left to visitors' interpretations without the artist's egoistic explanation of the Form's existence. In this way, works of art, grouped in this exhibition, will likely broaden the chamber art perspectives of sculptural form, object and installation and educate the viewers.
Spatial arts of form are currently facing challenges that require artistic, analytical research, discussions, forums, and this project is ambitiously taking responsibility, with the help of the forum „Culture of Memory“, to talk about contemporary phenomena of localizing art, their chamber perspectives and values, transmitted by professionals and this gives hope for a quality discussion field and identification of problematic contact points.
