Roma Forge

  ul. Gdańska 13      (+48) 42 620 05 77     06 Mar 2026
This is where you’ll find a surviving building from the first detention camp established just to hold Roma during the Holocaust. The small space, in the Museum of Independence Traditions, was established in 1941 and held 5,000 Roma and Sinti until it was liquidated the next year. As with other prisoners in the Lodz Ghetto, many of the remaining prisoners were sent to the extermination camp in Chełmo. Today, you can visit the forge by appointment only. Email the museum at least three days ahead of your visit and get a confirmation before you go. radegast@muzeumtradycji.pl.
