Lemkos are an ethnic minority group inhabiting regions of modern Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland. They are very proud of their cultural heritage despite never being independent nation except for one brief moment in 1918 (the Komancza Republic). Lemkos' Union is the organisation behind all the cultural events propagating Lemkos' cultural heritage. The project Lemko Jerusalem is an independent artistic initiative realised cyclically by the Union. The leading theme of the exhibition is the artistic and philosophical achievements of Cracow's well known painter of Lemko's origin, Jerzy Nowosielski. The title Hell and Heaven reflects the duality of the artist and describes a juxtaposition of sacrum and profanum elements in his art. Other artists presenting their works are - Andrzej Szewczyk, Grzegorz Sztwiertnia, Joanna Zemanek, Natalia Hładyk, Małgorzata Maćkowiak, Mateusz Budzyński, Arkadiusz Andrejkow, Piotr Bogatka and Oleksij Choroshko.
