Mierzęcin Palace Vineyard

If there's one location in Lubuskie that truly defines the term 'wine estate', there is truly no comparison when it comes to Pałac Mierzęcin Wellness & Wine Resort. The palace, combined with its winery, stud farm, parklands and unique grape spa facilities make Mierzęcin's wine estate is the third largest vineyard in Poland, with 15.8 hectares of manor turf to be enjoyed by all its visitors! While the stunning architecture and landscaping were developments of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, Mierzęcin's history can be traced back to the middle ages, as old as Lubuskie's own winemaking traditions. Since then it's survived wars, regime changes, life as a government office building and even a kindergarten! Having fallen into disrepair by the early 90s, restorations began at the turn of the millennium and, by 2002, Pałac Mierzęcin had returned to its former glory.

As one of the most recognised wineries in the region, Mierzęcin planted its first rows of grapevines in 2004, and today there are some 35,000 bushes growing across a vast, south-by-south-west-facing, gentle slope, sitting approximately 60 metres above sea level. Lubuskie's unique geography and soil quality took naturally to the cultivation of grapes more than 800 years ago, and the region is gradually returning to its viticultural and winemaking traditions that were halted at the end of WWII. Playing its part in this wine renaissance, Pałac Mierzęcin produces 19 grafts, mainly varieties of white grapevines - Kernling, Riesling, Solaris and Seyval blanc - as well as red grapevines - Rondo, Regent and Zweigelt - and other hybrids. You can purchase their wine on-site between normal hours, or get up close and personal on a winery tour for 50zł per person. This can be combined with a wine tasting session for an extra 50zł per person (price may vary, depending on whether guests want to indulge in some snacks too) and is available through prior reservation. This is not the only option for wining and dining. Keep in mind, the palace has its own restaurant, where their produce is also served.

As touched on earlier, Mierzęcin Palace Vineyard is the only place in the country which uses grapes from its own vineyard to produce wine and prepare unique 'grape spa' treatments. Their special treatment recipes were developed in collaboration with the German natural cosmetics company Kurland, infusing the latest findings in grape rejuvenation properties together with those things that a connoisseur looks for in wine: beauty, colour, smell and pleasure. Their website has a range of different treatments, from face and body applications to wine baths and a range of massages.

It's important to note that Mierzęcin is not just for enotourists. It's a place that can be appreciated by all walks of life - couples, young families, girls' weekends and business trips, just to name a few. On their website, you can browse numerous packages that may suit you and/or your company on a truly unforgettable experience in the Lubuskie winelands!
