Geissmatt

  St. Karlistrasse 13A      (+41) 41 361 13 13     more than a year ago
Despite the very Swiss name, Geissmatt is seriously dedicated to Italian cuisine. The atmosphere isn't serious though, it's very friendly and cosy, just like the lovely interior with old wooden tables, bistro chairs and the occasional agricultural artifact. In the evenings there is just one set 5-course menu which takes you from antipasto, through to cheese and dolci (you can omit some courses). Some dishes are classics, other more unusual, but all crafted to perfection and made with excellent ingredients, like the exquisitely creamy burrata mozzarella or the cut of veal on a bed of rucola we had. Definitely our favourite Italian in town. Vegetarians are catered for, though this is not their major strength. For the weekends reservation strongly recommended.
