Lido Beach

There's lots of room for playing at the Lido. It's a large park which stretches along the lake shore, just behind the transport museum. It includes a sandy beach for swimming in the lake, swimming pools, a large playground and several snack bars and restaurants. The playground includes a super-duper climbing castle with towers and bridges. In summer you pay a fee for access to the beach, the pools and the playground, in winter all of this is freely accessible,. While there are pools, swimmers take to the lake, which is more than clean enough for swimming in and much more fun.

Strandbad Tribschen

Close to where Richard Wagner used to reside, Tribschen Badi is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Lucerne but still within walking distance or a short bus ride from the main train station. Relax on the green lakeside lawn with trees offering shade on hot days and enjoy easy access to the lake, surrounded by great views of the Prealps. If you want more action, then you can play some beach volleyball, table tennis or rent a canoe or SUP (stand up paddle) board. Seebad Lucerne

The wooden bathing house on Lake Lucerne, known as Seebad, originally opened its doors over 130 years ago in 1885 and underwent a comprehensive refurbishment in 2010. It is a wooden structure stretching out into the lake. Previously it was divided into two separate bathing houses; the left side was for women and the right side for men. Each side has a shallow pool within the structure containing crystal clear lake water, although most people choose to take the stairs at the far end into the open lake with stunning Alpine views. There are simple yet charming old-style changing cabins surrounding the internal pools and a small restaurant serving snacks, drinks and ice cream. It is renowned with locals for its fine salads; the Greek salad is definitely worth a try as is a tinto de verano (summer wine). They also offer massages, yoga and occasional summer concerts. After 20:00 swimming is prohibited, but it remains open with a relaxed bar vibe. A sunny summer eve spent at Seebad will put you in the holiday mood.

Lido Ufschötti

If you walk along the lake from the main train station, past the KKL, Radisson Hotel, the shipyards and the sailing club you'll come upon a small, hilly lawn. Welcome to Ufschötti! Walk towards the water and you’ll come to the small swimming beach and a pop-up summer bar. It"s popular with families during the daytime and can get very busy on sunny weekends, but tends to be much calmer during weekdays. People also gather here to play football, beach volleyball or kubb (a sort of Swedish bowling). Sometimes they set up a slack line between trees to prove their balance. Apart from the bar by the beach, there's a kiosk towards the roadselling hot and cold snacks, drinks and ice cream. There you'll find toilets and changing rooms, too. In the evening, Ufschötti is a popular hangout for young folk, playing guitars and bongos whilst sipping from their beer cans.
