Rather than a traditional music festival, Avant Art is a festival 'about music' that showcases a variety of experimental artists, in whose work music plays a primary role. Taking place annually with editions in Wrocław and Warsaw, the line-ups feature mostly Polish artists, but also international avantgarde acts from a diverse spectrum of genres: punk, industrial, improv/jazz, electronic, hip-hop, noise and beat. Avant Art 2022 - already the 6th edition - will be accompanied by the exhibition 'Poland 2137' by the Wrocław artistic collective, Church of Nihilists, and feature experimental groups from New York, London, Zurich and Berlin, as well as representatives from the cult record label Nyege Nyege Tape. The 2021 line-up includes the Kenyan noise duo Duma, American hip-hop duo Prison Religion, experimental electronic music by Beatrice Dillon (UK), Rosa Anschütz (DE), the latest project from Dominik Strycharski (PL) - PLANTAE CARNIVORAE: Strycharski & Drazkov, Beam Splitter - a collaboration between Audrey Chen (US) and Munkeby Nørstebø (NO), and more. The festival takes place in several venues across Warsaw, including TR Warszawa (ul. Marszałkowska 8), Klub SPATiF (Al. Ujazdowskie 45), Pardon, To Tu (Al. Armii Ludowej 14 14), Komuna Warszawa (ul. Emilii Plater 31), Pogłos (ul. Burakowska 12), and BWA Warszawa (ul. Marszałkowska 34/50/666).
