Liliana Porter, an Argentinian artist living in New York is working in a wide variety of media, including printmaking, painting, drawing, photography, video, installation, theater and public art. Since 1980 the focus of her art became installations that include found objects. The recurring theme in her art is the criticism of the representation and the constant need to reconstruct the reality. She is also interested in passing of time and its inevitability. Her work has been influenced by various trends in contemporary art - surrealism, metaphorical art, minimalism, pop art and conceptualism, but she remains an individual artist with a bitterly witty vision of the world.
