Organised every other year by BWA Wrocław, the 5th edition of Out of Sth is devoted to the latest trends in visual culture in the context of public space and art as a tool of social dialogue. Inviting a diverse range of representatives of 'independent culture' - from art galleries to anarchist squats and other urban activists, this year's theme is 'Zajęcie' - essentially an activity, pursuit, or just something to do. Often used to describe something to busy yourself with when you have an excess of free time, in today's society not only how we perceive our own free time, but also how we spend it is certainly evolving in ways that impact our social lives, self-image and our use of free time in the rather work-like building of our own content and 'brand.' In this way, the organisers suggest that everyone is a participant in this year's festival, and among the topics explored will be how this widespread narcissistic obsession with ourselves can be empowering as it places an importance on each individual in society and allows each of us to break out of societal 'boxes' and classifications, defeat generalisations, express ourselves and make our voices heard.
