Wroclaw

European Peace Cross

At the corner of ul. Prusa and ul. Wyszyńskiego ,   Nadodrze         more than a year ago
Standing just 20 metres from the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, this strange monument by Austrian artist Helmut Strobl is devoted to Edith Stein. Wrocław’s cross is a copy of the original cross which the artist took with him on a pilgrimage through seven towns connected with Edith Stein before erecting it in Innsbruck for some reason. Looking half like a wooden cross and half like an iron maiden torture device, the monument features an inscription from Psalm 31 in Polish, German and Hebrew.
